  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x9-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Layer the dry ingredients in a 1-quart mason jar in the following order: all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt, semi-sweet chocolate chips, and chopped walnuts.
  4. Close the jar tightly with a lid.
  5. Attach a label with the following instructions: 'To make the brownies, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, combine the contents of this jar with 3/4 cup melted butter and 3 beaten eggs. Mix until well combined. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Allow to cool before cutting into squares.'
  6. Optionally, you can decorate the jar and attach a ribbon or gift tag.
