In a large bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

Add warm water gradually and knead until the dough is smooth and elastic.

Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let the dough rise for about 1 hour.

Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).

In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add baking soda.

Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and roll each portion into a long rope.

Shape each rope into a pretzel shape.

Carefully drop the pretzels into the boiling water and cook for 30 seconds.

Remove the pretzels from the water using a slotted spoon and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Sprinkle coarse salt on top of each pretzel.

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Brush the pretzels with melted butter.
