  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
  2. Add warm water gradually and knead until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  3. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let the dough rise for about 1 hour.
  4. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  5. In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add baking soda.
  6. Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and roll each portion into a long rope.
  7. Shape each rope into a pretzel shape.
  8. Carefully drop the pretzels into the boiling water and cook for 30 seconds.
  9. Remove the pretzels from the water using a slotted spoon and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  10. Sprinkle coarse salt on top of each pretzel.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  12. Brush the pretzels with melted butter.
  13. Let them cool for a few minutes before serving.
