In a saucepan, combine the milk, sugar, cornstarch, and egg yolks.

Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens.

Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.

Layer the bottom of a serving dish with vanilla wafers.

Slice the bananas and layer them on top of the wafers.

Pour the pudding mixture over the bananas.

Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, ending with a layer of pudding.
