  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut in the butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix together the mashed bananas, egg, and vanilla extract.
  5. Add the banana mixture to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chopped walnuts.
  7. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently a few times until it comes together.
  8. Pat the dough into a circle about 1-inch thick.
  9. Cut the circle into 8 wedges and transfer them to the prepared baking sheet.
  10. Brush the tops of the scones with milk.
  11. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  12. Allow the scones to cool on a wire rack before serving.
