Baked Shells
Baked shells, also known as stuffed shells, are a popular Italian-American dish that originated in Sicily. They are typically filled with a mixture of cheese, meat, or vegetables and baked in a rich tomato sauce.

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Cook the pasta shells according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until onion becomes translucent.

Stir in tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.

In a greased baking dish, spread a thin layer of the tomato sauce mixture.

Stuff each cooked pasta shell with a spoonful of the tomato sauce mixture. Place the stuffed shells in the baking dish.

Pour the remaining tomato sauce mixture over the stuffed shells.

Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.

Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 20 minutes.

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil leaves.
