  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Roll out the shortcrust pastry and line a tart tin with it.
  3. Peel, core, and slice the apples.
  4. In a saucepan, melt the butter and add the treacle, ground cinnamon, and lemon juice. Stir until well combined.
  5. Arrange the apple slices on top of the pastry.
  6. Pour the treacle mixture over the apples.
  7. Roll out the remaining pastry and cut into strips to create a lattice pattern on top of the tart.
  8. Beat the egg and brush it over the pastry.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and the apples are tender.
  10. Allow to cool for 30 minutes before serving.
