  3. In a bowl, mix the sliced apples with lemon juice and vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  5. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  6. Spread half of the oat mixture in the bottom of a baking dish.
  7. Top with the apple mixture.
  8. Sprinkle the remaining oat mixture over the apples.
  9. Bake for 40 minutes or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.
