Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Cut the bread into cubes and set aside.

Peel, core, and slice the apples.

In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

Add the bread cubes and apple slices to the egg mixture and toss to coat.

Let the mixture sit for 10 minutes to allow the bread to soak up the liquid.

Grease a baking dish with butter and pour the bread mixture into the dish.
