Salted Caramel Squares
Salted caramel is believed to have originated in Brittany, France, in the 1970s.

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a square baking dish with parchment paper.

In a saucepan, melt the butter, granulated sugar, and golden syrup over medium heat until the sugar has dissolved.

Add the condensed milk and sea salt flakes to the saucepan and continue to cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and turns a caramel color.

Crush the digestive biscuits into small crumbs and mix them into the caramel mixture.

Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and press it down firmly.

Melt the dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl over simmering water and pour it over the caramel mixture.

Use a spatula to spread the chocolate evenly.

Sprinkle sea salt flakes on top.

Place the baking dish in the refrigerator and let it rest for at least 1 hour.

Once set, remove from the refrigerator and cut into squares.
