Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Prepare the yellow cake mix according to package instructions and bake in a 9x13-inch baking dish.

Once the cake is baked, remove it from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes.

In a bowl, dissolve the cherry Jello in boiling water. Stir in cold water.

Poke holes all over the cake using a fork or skewer.

Slowly pour the Jello mixture over the cake, making sure it fills the holes.

Refrigerate the cake for at least 1 hour to allow the Jello to set.

Once the cake has chilled, spread whipped topping over the top.

Garnish with maraschino cherries.
