  2. Prepare the yellow cake mix according to package instructions and bake in a 9x13-inch baking dish.

  4. In a bowl, dissolve the cherry Jello in boiling water. Stir in cold water.
  5. Poke holes all over the cake using a fork or skewer.
  6. Slowly pour the Jello mixture over the cake, making sure it fills the holes.

  8. Once the cake has chilled, spread whipped topping over the top.
