In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.

In a small saucepan, heat milk and butter until butter is melted. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes.

Add yeast mixture, eggs, and cardamom to the flour mixture. Mix until a soft dough forms.

Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes or until smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Punch down the dough and knead in the raisins and candied citron.

Shape the dough into a round loaf and place it on a greased baking sheet.

Cover the loaf with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise for another 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a small bowl, beat the egg yolk with water. Brush the top of the loaf with the egg wash and sprinkle with sliced almonds.

Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
