  2. In a medium bowl, combine the chocolate cookie crumbs and melted butter. Press the mixture into the bottom of a 9-inch (23 cm) springform pan.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Divide the cream cheese mixture in half. Stir the melted chocolate into one half of the mixture.
  5. Pour the chocolate mixture over the crust in the pan. Then pour the plain cream cheese mixture over the chocolate layer.
  6. Use a knife to gently swirl the two mixtures together, creating a marbled effect.
  7. Bake for 55-60 minutes or until the center is set.
  8. Turn off the oven and let the cheesecake cool in the oven for 1 hour.
  9. Remove from the oven and let it cool completely. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
  10. Once chilled, remove the sides of the springform pan. Slice and serve.
