Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a loaf tin with baking parchment.

Place the dried mixed fruit and black tea in a bowl and leave to soak for 1 hour.

In a separate bowl, mix together the self-raising flour, brown sugar, egg, mixed spice, butter, and milk.

Add the soaked fruit mixture to the bowl and stir until well combined.

Pour the mixture into the prepared loaf tin and smooth the top.

Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.

Remove from the oven and allow to cool in the tin for 10 minutes.

Transfer the loaf to a wire rack and leave to cool completely before serving.
