Did you know that the first chocolate chip cookie was invented by Ruth Graves Wakefield in 1938? She added chopped up chocolate to her cookie dough, expecting it to melt and create chocolate cookies. Instead, the chocolate pieces held their shape and the chocolate chip cookie was born!

  4. In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing well.
  5. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet and flatten slightly.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
