To salvage the dish, they placed the pastry on top and baked it upside down. The result was a delicious caramelized apple tart that became a beloved dessert.

  5. Arrange the apple slices on top of the caramel in a circular pattern.
  6. Sprinkle cinnamon, lemon juice, vanilla extract, and salt over the apples.
  7. Roll out the puff pastry sheet and place it over the apples, tucking in the edges.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  10. Carefully invert the tart onto a serving plate.
