Nacho chips were invented by Ignacio ‘Nacho’ Anaya in 1943 in Piedras Negras, Mexico. The dish was originally called ‘Nacho’s Especiales’ and became popular in the United States after being served at the Texas State Fair.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add salt, pepper, chili powder, and cumin to the cooked beef and mix well.
  4. In a muffin tin, place a tortilla chip in each cup.
  5. Top each chip with a spoonful of the cooked beef, followed by black beans, tomato, red onion, and jalapeno pepper.
  6. Sprinkle cheddar cheese over the toppings.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes.
  9. Garnish with sour cream, guacamole, and fresh cilantro.
  10. Serve immediately and enjoy!
