Swiss Cheese Green Bean Casserole
Green bean casserole became popular in the United States in the 1950s and is a traditional dish often served during Thanksgiving.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Blanch the green beans in boiling water for 5 minutes, then drain and set aside.

In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the mushrooms, onion, and garlic, and cook until softened.

Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth.

Add the Swiss cheese, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper. Stir until the cheese is melted and the sauce is thickened.

Add the blanched green beans to the skillet and toss to coat them in the cheese sauce.

Transfer the mixture to a greased casserole dish and sprinkle with breadcrumbs.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the casserole is hot and bubbly.
