  1. In a saucepan, combine the mixed berries, sugar, and water. Cook over medium heat until the berries release their juices.
  2. Remove from heat and let it cool.
  3. Line a pudding basin with slices of white bread, making sure to cover the bottom and sides completely.
  4. Pour the cooked berries into the bread-lined basin.
  5. Cover the top with more slices of white bread.
  6. Place a plate or lid on top of the basin and weigh it down with something heavy.
  7. Refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight.
  8. To serve, remove the weight and plate, and carefully turn the pudding out onto a serving dish.
  9. Slice and serve with whipped cream or ice cream, if desired.
