Sugar Cookie Cut-Outs
Sugar cookies are a popular treat during the holiday season, especially during Christmas.
This is vegetarian recipe. Dish can be prepared in 70 minutes. Recipe requires some culinary experience (medium difficulty). Number of ingredients: 10.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture and mix until well combined.

Divide the dough into two equal parts and shape into discs. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness.

Use cookie cutters to cut out desired shapes and transfer them to the prepared baking sheets.

Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.

Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

In a small bowl, whisk together the icing sugar and milk until smooth. Add food coloring, if desired.

Decorate the cooled cookies with the icing and let it set before serving.
