  1. In a bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, ground cinnamon, ground ginger, ground nutmeg, and ground cloves.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until well combined.
  5. Cover the dough and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  7. Roll the dough into small balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
