Core the apples and remove the seeds, leaving the bottom intact.

In a small bowl, mix together the granulated sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle the mixture inside the apples.

In another bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, butter, oats, and chopped nuts (if using). Mix until crumbly.

Stuff each apple with the crumb mixture.

Place the stuffed apples in a baking dish and bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.
