  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Scrub the baking potatoes and pat them dry. Prick each potato several times with a fork.
  3. Place the potatoes directly on the oven rack and bake for 45-60 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork.
  4. Remove the potatoes from the oven and let them rest for 5 minutes.
  5. Slice each potato lengthwise, being careful not to cut all the way through.
  6. Fluff the insides of the potatoes with a fork.
  7. Place a tablespoon of butter in each potato and season with salt and black pepper.
  8. Top each potato with a tablespoon of sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, crumbled bacon, and chopped green onions.
  9. Return the potatoes to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
  10. Serve hot and enjoy!
