  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, yeast, warm water, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
  2. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  3. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise for 1 hour.
  4. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  5. Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces and roll each piece into a long rope.
  6. Twist each rope into a pretzel shape and place them on a baking sheet.
  7. In a small bowl, beat the egg and brush it over the pretzels.
  8. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese and coarse salt on top.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown.
  10. Let the pretzels cool for a few minutes before serving.
