  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients alternately with the milk.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased and floured 9-inch round cake pan.
  6. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove from the pan and let it cool completely on a wire rack.
  8. Slice the cake in half horizontally.
  9. Spread whipped cream on the bottom half of the cake.
  10. Slice the strawberries and arrange them on top of the whipped cream.
  11. Place the top half of the cake over the strawberries.
  12. Dust the top of the cake with powdered sugar.
  13. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
