  3. Cook the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens and comes to a boil.
  4. Remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool for 5 minutes.
  5. Layer the bottom of serving dishes with vanilla wafers.
  6. Pour the pudding mixture over the vanilla wafers.
  7. Top with whipped cream and sliced bananas.
  8. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
