The combination of spicy cayenne pepper and sweet caramel creates a unique and delicious flavor in these brownies.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.

In a heatproof bowl, melt the dark chocolate and unsalted butter together over a pan of simmering water.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and eggs until well combined.

Gradually pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, stirring continuously.

Sift in the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, cayenne pepper, and salt. Mix until just combined.

Pour half of the batter into the prepared baking dish. Drizzle half of the caramel sauce on top and swirl it into the batter using a knife.

Pour the remaining batter on top and repeat the caramel swirling process.

Sprinkle chopped nuts on top (optional).

Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Allow the brownies to cool in the baking dish for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
