Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.

In a separate bowl, mix together the melted butter and sugar until well combined. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract and applesauce.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the chopped walnuts.

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
