Shoo Fly Cake
Shoo Fly Cake is a traditional Pennsylvania Dutch dessert that originated from the Shoo Fly Pie. It got its name because the sweet molasses aroma attracts flies, hence the ‘Shoo Fly’ name.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a mixing bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, and butter until crumbly.

Reserve 1/2 cup of the crumb mixture for the topping.

To the remaining crumb mixture, add molasses, hot water, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, and salt. Mix well.

Pour the batter into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.

Sprinkle the reserved crumb mixture over the batter.

Pour boiling water over the top.

Bake for 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the cake to cool for 30 minutes before serving.
