Sharlotka is a popular Russian dessert that originated in the 19th century. It was named after Charlotte, the wife of King George III of England, who was known for her love of apple desserts.

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

Peel and core the apples, then slice them into thin wedges.

In a mixing bowl, beat the eggs and sugar until creamy.

Add the flour, baking powder, vanilla extract, and salt to the egg mixture. Mix well until smooth.

Grease a round baking pan and pour half of the batter into it.

Arrange the apple slices on top of the batter.

Pour the remaining batter over the apples, making sure they are fully covered.

Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes.
