Ingredients
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 10x15 inch jelly roll pan with parchment paper.
-
In a medium bowl, whisk together the cake flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
-
In a large bowl, beat the eggs and granulated sugar until thick and pale yellow in color. This may take about 5 minutes.
-
Add the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the egg mixture. Mix until well combined.
-
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
-
Transfer half of the batter to a separate bowl. Add the red food coloring to one bowl and mix until evenly colored.
-
Pour the plain batter into the prepared jelly roll pan, spreading it evenly.
-
Carefully pour the red batter over the plain batter, creating a heart shape in the center.
-
Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the cake is lightly golden and springs back when touched.
-
Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 5 minutes.
-
Dust a clean kitchen towel with powdered sugar. Invert the cake onto the towel and gently peel off the parchment paper.
-
Starting from one of the short ends, carefully roll up the cake with the towel. Let it cool completely.
-
Unroll the cake and spread a layer of whipped cream over the surface.
-
Place sliced strawberries on top of the whipped cream.
-
Carefully roll the cake back up, removing the towel as you go.
-
Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
