  2. In a medium bowl, cream together the butter and powdered sugar until smooth.
  3. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, mixing well after each addition.
  6. Stir in the chopped pecans.
  7. Shape the dough into 1-inch balls and place them 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  8. Bake for 12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
