Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a doughnut pan.

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

In a separate bowl, mix together the apple cider, sugar, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract.

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.

Spoon the batter into the prepared doughnut pan, filling each cavity about 3/4 full.

Bake for 10-12 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into a doughnut comes out clean.

Allow the doughnuts to cool in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Drizzle caramel sauce over the cooled doughnuts and sprinkle with sea salt flakes.
