Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease a baking dish.

Cut the stale bread into cubes and place them in the prepared baking dish.

In a saucepan, heat the milk and heavy cream over medium heat until hot but not boiling.

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, cinnamon, and vanilla extract.

Slowly pour the hot milk mixture into the egg mixture, whisking constantly.

Pour the mixture over the bread cubes, pressing down to ensure all the bread is soaked.

Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top.

Dot the bread pudding with butter.

Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the pudding is set and the top is golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes.
