  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Cut the butter and cream cheese into small pieces and add them to the bowl. Mix until the dough comes together.
  2. Divide the dough into 4 equal parts and shape each part into a disk. Wrap each disk in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  3. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  4. On a lightly floured surface, roll out one dough disk into a circle. Spread a thin layer of jam or preserves over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle with cinnamon and chopped nuts.
  5. Carefully roll up the dough from one edge to form a log. Repeat with the remaining dough disks.
  6. Place the rugelach cookies on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
