  1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, butter, cream cheese, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until a dough forms.
  2. Divide the dough into 4 equal parts and shape each part into a disk. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  4. On a lightly floured surface, roll out one disk of dough into a circle.
  5. Spread a thin layer of apricot jam on the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  6. Sprinkle the ground cinnamon, chopped nuts, and raisins or currants over the jam.
  7. Starting from one edge, roll the dough into a tight log.
  8. Cut the log into 1-inch pieces and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  9. Repeat with the remaining dough and filling.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  11. Allow the rugelach to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
