Ingredients
Instructions
-
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in the butter and cream cheese until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Mix in the vanilla extract.
-
Divide the dough into 4 equal parts. Wrap each part in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
Roll out one portion of the dough into a circle on a lightly floured surface. Spread a thin layer of jam or preserves over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle with cinnamon and nuts, if desired.
-
Carefully roll up the dough like a jelly roll and place it seam side down on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining dough and filling.
-
Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown. Allow the rugelach to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
-
Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
