  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, and salt.
  2. Cut in the butter and cream cheese until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a disk.
  5. Wrap each disk in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. On a lightly floured surface, roll out each dough disk into a circle.
  8. Spread fruit preserves over the dough and sprinkle with cinnamon and chopped nuts.
  9. Cut each circle into 8 wedges.
  10. Starting at the wide end, roll up each wedge toward the pointed end.
  11. Place the rugelach on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  12. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  13. Allow the rugelach to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
