In a large bowl, whisk together the spelt flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

In a separate bowl, mix together the applesauce, coconut oil, coconut sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and almond milk.

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.

Fold in the dark chocolate chips.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.

Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
