  1. Soak the basmati rice and red kidney beans separately for 4 hours.
  2. Drain the water and rinse the rice and kidney beans.
  3. In a pressure cooker, heat vegetable oil and add cumin seeds.
  4. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  5. Add ginger, garlic, and green chili and sauté for 2 minutes.
  6. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften.
  7. Add coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well.
  8. Add soaked rice and kidney beans and mix gently.
  9. Add 4 cups of water and close the pressure cooker.
  10. Cook for 3 whistles on high heat and then reduce the heat to low and cook for another 10 minutes.
  11. Allow the pressure to release naturally.
  12. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
