Rich and Chewy Chocolate Almond Cookies
Chocolate chip cookies were invented by Ruth Graves Wakefield in 1938 when she added chopped chocolate to her cookie dough, expecting the chocolate to melt and create chocolate cookies. Instead, the chocolate chips held their shape and the chocolate chip cookie was born!

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.

In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Stir in the sliced almonds and chocolate chips.

Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set and the centers are still slightly soft.

Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
