  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the sourdough starter, flour, sugar, butter, egg, vanilla extract, baking powder, and salt. Mix well until smooth.
  3. Spread half of the batter in the prepared cake pan. Top with half of the rhubarb.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped pecans. Sprinkle half of the mixture over the rhubarb.
  5. Repeat the layers with the remaining batter, rhubarb, and brown sugar mixture.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 15 minutes. Then, transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Serve the rhubarb sourdough coffeecake and enjoy!
