Raspberry Thumbprint Cookies
Thumbprint cookies get their name from the thumbprint indentation made in the center of each cookie before baking.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Stir in the vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.

Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on a baking sheet.

Use your thumb to make an indentation in the center of each cookie.

Fill each indentation with a teaspoon of raspberry jam.

Bake for 12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.

Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
