Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a muffin tin or line with paper liners.

In a large bowl, mix together the pumpkin puree, vegetable oil, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.

Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped walnuts.

Spoon the batter into the prepared muffin tin, filling each cup about 3/4 full.

Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean.

Remove from the oven and let the muffins cool in the tin for 5 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
