Pour in vegetable broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes or until the pumpkin and apple are tender.

While the soup is simmering, prepare the cumin-candied pepitas. In a small bowl, mix pepitas with maple syrup and cumin.
