Preheat the grill or oven to medium-high heat.

Clean the portabella mushrooms and remove the stems.

In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, minced garlic, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper to make the red pepper mayonnaise.

Brush the portabella mushrooms with olive oil and season with salt and black pepper.

Grill or roast the mushrooms for about 4-5 minutes on each side, until tender.

While the mushrooms are cooking, grill or toast the burger buns.
