  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, almond flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in almond extract.
  4. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients alternately with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Stir in poppyseeds.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Sprinkle sliced almonds over the batter.
  6. Bake for 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove from the pan and cool completely on a wire rack.
