Black bean burgers are a popular vegetarian alternative to traditional meat burgers, and the addition of pizza flavors gives them a unique twist!

In a large bowl, mash the black beans with a fork or potato masher.

Add pizza sauce, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper to the bowl. Mix well.

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty.

Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium heat. Cook the patties for 5-6 minutes on each side, or until heated through.

Optional: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the cooked patties on a baking sheet, top with mozzarella cheese, and bake for 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.

Toast the hamburger buns.

Assemble the burgers by placing a patty on the bottom half of each bun. Top with lettuce, tomato, and red onion. Cover with the top half of the bun.
