  6. Sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over the bottom of the prepared cake pan.
  7. Arrange the pineapple slices on top of the brown sugar, and place a cherry in the center of each pineapple slice.
  8. Pour the cake batter over the pineapple slices and cherries, spreading it evenly.
  9. Bake for 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then invert it onto a serving plate.
