  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and dark chocolate together, stirring until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, stirring until smooth.
  5. In another bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the chocolate mixture, stirring until well combined.
  6. If desired, fold in the walnuts.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top.
