  1. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar.
  2. Add vanilla extract, peppermint extract, and the egg. Mix well.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture and mix until well combined.
  5. Stir in the chopped pecans.
  6. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the dough for 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  8. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 8-10 minutes until set.
  10. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
